Visited Etang rouge 14 -21 sept just got back and I can honestly say we had an amazing time …… you want for nothing at this well run fishery … Jeff and Shan looked after us so well we ate and drank like kings !!!! From Jeff’s vindaloo curry
To Shan’s homemade blueberry pie . Each meal was a triumph!!!! We have both come home heavier.. they have a well stocked
Bar with beer soft drinks and snacks all at very reasonable prices. There is a well stocked tackle and bait shop for all your needs. The setting of this fishery is just stunning set in rolling French countryside so peaceful with lots of wildlife . The lake is fantastic and stocked with fantastic well looked after carp and the kit you hire is fantastic well maintained, Jeff is on hand 24/7 to offer advice and tips to help you in those difficult times the pegs are immaculate. All in all we had an amazing week with 6 fish between us in testing conditions . One 30 two 40s and 3 fifty’s!!!!!!! Thank you Jeff and Shan for an amazing week and for your company, laughs and red wine !!!!! Which sometimes made the bait boat deployment a little difficult!!!! We have just come back from our week long fishing trip to Etang Rouge, and what a week!
Last couple of days were very quiet on the fish front, but I could never have expected to land the newly named Boris at 64lb 12oz, which I’m sure will soon go over 70lb! Watch this space!!

The experience:
After you are collected from the airport and driven to the fishery, Jeff will then offer you a drink and take you around the facilities, which includes the ‘Anglers Rest’ which has a dart board and pool table, toilet and shower, as well as a nice decking area to chill out on, and of course, the lake, showing you all of the likely fish spots in each peg and swim, once you’ve the chosen your peg to fish he will then hand you all the rods and alarms to use - one thing is that you must use the PB hit and run safety leaders so would recommend you purchase before you go, but he does have them along with other bits of end tackle to buy.
He will let you use your own kit, he supplies ATT alarms, buzz bars, NGT rods, and Shimano baitrunner reels, all in great nick and more than good enough to handle those lumps!
Bivvies are decent, as well as the bed and chair, nice and comfortable.
The pegs are nicely laid out along one side of the lake and are bedded down in gravel, so you don't get muddy when it’s wet, and there are solar powered lights in each swim which is a nice touch.
Breakfast and lunch are delivered to your swim each morning / afternoon , and the evening meal is served at the anglers rest - the food is great, you won’t be disappointed!
As the week goes on any drinks and snack items you buy will go on your peg bill and is settled at the end of the week, id recommended budgeting €200 - €400 for the peg bill, depending on what you buy and how many beers you drink! Or if you hire a bait boat etc.

So, if you want a great all inclusive weeks fishing in France, look these guys up.
Jeff and Shan are fantastic hosts, offer up great food and plenty of drink! ?‍?, in an idyllic location. No brainer!
Very very highly recommended!

Third visit here, 1st time pb 54lbs- 2nd time, pb again 63lbs, this time weather unbelievable sun burn your eyes out and torrential rain but still had the best week my pal rob got 26lbs and I got 35lb with only 7 hours of our trip left to go, the best week yet, each year gets better. Just back from 7 days at this fantastic venue.... stunning lake, awesome fish and amazing hosts..... Thank you Jeff and Shan.... For mid October and changeable weather, I caught over 200lb of hard fighting carp.... biggest 52lb and a new personal best. Facilities and food are the best i've had on a fishing break....... First time that I’ve ever been fishing. Jeff had all the equipment that was needed and gave me some tips as well. Shan was a great host and kept me fed, watered and entertained the whole time! Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back soon!

Wow… what can we say other than an exceptionally good week with Jeff and Shan at Etang Rouge. This was mine and my Brothers first big carp trip abroad and Jeff couldn’t be any more helpful to us. Nothing was ever too much trouble, Jeff was happy to message or take a call with any questions leading up to the trip… Shan was busy helping/ suggesting flight options from the North West (even though we chose to fly from Stansted in the end)

The week started off with a cooked breakfast on arrival… then straight into the fishing! I hooked my PB of 35.5lbs within an hour of setting the traps!! My brother was also off the mark within a few hours! We both caught some amazing fish through the week with my brother smashing his PB with a 41.5lb Mirror on the last day. We had a few days of 30 degree heat and thunderstorms like I’ve never seen before which made for difficult fishing at times , but with the “social” shelter… a few cold ones, watching the fish boching around The lake, the beautiful surroundings, wildlife and general chatter with Jeff and Shan made for a great week and it flew by. Facilities in the anglers rest were spot on… clean tidy and comfortable!

Food was immense… Jeff and Shan prepared a freshly cooked Breakfast roll every morning followed by a fresh filled baguette at lunch. The evening meals were always a proper homely/ hearty meal! It was like home from home! Hats off to Jeff for the Stir-fry ?… I hired the boat and Sleeping bag and bought some bits from Jeff’s tackle shop - very reasonable and if you forget anything at all, Jeff will have what you need there.

Over all … 10 out of 10… couldn’t fault it at all and we will be back next year for sure! You’ve given us the Big French carp bug for sure!

Great hosts. Great food. Clean facilities.
Walk down past the horse paddocks to the quiet woodland lake where we sat and watched the kingfishers whilst waiting for the fish to bite. To top it off my boyfriend caught a 45lb carp so fantastic long weekend for everyone. Highly recommend.

A fantastic week at Etang Rouge !

Jeff met us at Limoges airport and drove us straight to the venue which took about 40mins.

On arrival we were very impressed with the Anglers rest which was clean and modern!

We brought along our own terminal tackle and sleeping bags but hired everything else which was all great quality.

Despite incredibly tough conditions with average temperatures of mid thirties all week, perseverance paid off and we had a couple of fish each both beating our PB’s and joining the thirties club!

Jeff puts a huge amount of effort and care into maintaining the condition of his stock which has well and truly paid off! Can honestly say the fish I caught on this trip were in fantastic condition.

I will be back again on a mission to beat 39lb 4oz?
