Didn't eat on my first visit but a really cool and quaint place. Service was warm and friendly, as were the conversations with the locals. Tremendous tap and bottle variety. Apparently, there's also a speakeasy on premises that was closed the day of my visit but comes highly regarded.

The guy at the bar was very helpful and informative about the establishment. Hubby tried out the flight and I typically don't like beer but I did like 2 of the flavors the guy chose for us.

Fantastic! Great beers on tap and some eclectic bottles like Chimay. Solid bar food line-up with something for everyone. Pet Friendly. Indoor. Yes indoor. Great place to watch a game and bring your furry friend.

I love Hop Scholar..I’ve been here a few times and food and beer is always on point! I love their beer selection - there’s something for everyone. The staff is amazing and sweet! You have to order everything at the bar and also choose your own table. Last time my boyfriend got the Hop Scholar burger with tots and I got the Brisket nachos. The food was so yummy!

Overall: My favorite bar in Houston. High ratings for a reason.

Price: Beer prices are pretty average especially for what they serve. Food prices are decent as well, but I love the food here, so I don’t mind paying a little extra.

Food: I used to be a big fan of the craft hot dogs, they’re not on the main menu anymore but I’ve been told they have a special menu for certain days/times when they still make them. They pair great with the loaded fries, kimchi fries are my favorite they are phenomenal. They’ve changed chefs since I first started coming here but they do a great job.

Service: Everyone here is always nice and super fun. I’ve never had any issues with service here.

Atmosphere/cleanliness: very nice vibes inside. Super chill for everyone. Few tv’s for sports. Never seen it dirty here.

The staff was super friendly, made us feel welcome and answered all of our questions. They have up to 45 beers on tap. The menu is super organized so you can easily find what you want to drink. Awesome place to check out. They do not serve food here, but occasionally have food trucks and places within walking distance to grab a bite to eat.

Hop Scholar has been our go-to for beer and unwinding for years now. In the past, they had a variety of standard bar-fair, kimchi fries, burgers, and such. Recently, they've done away with that and moved to Pho and Vietnamese influenced dishes. While good, I have to say that it is really a bit random. My palette is not quite accustomed to beer and Vietnamese. Honestly, if you're drinking then this is a great place. But the latest food option kind of keeps me away. I want to be able to eat when I drink, and Pho/Vietnamese/Beer is just not a great combo. I sincerely do wish everyone the best, as Hop Scholar team, service, and fun 'bingo nights' are so great. I just need some classic bar food with it from time to time.
